The HC directive came while hearing a Public Interest Litigation seeking a court-monitored probe by a Central Bureau of Investigation-led Special Investigation Team into the death of Pushkar. Delhi Police, the court observed, had maintained a dilly-dallying attitude in the investigation.
The bench said it would not be fair for them to monitor the probe, but that the court would certainly like to know the progress in the case. Additional Solicitor General (ASJ) Sanjay Jain had contended that there was no delay on the part of Delhi Police and the Court could check the reports, The High Court directed the ASG to check the progress in the case and inform it accordingly.
