Militant killed, police constable injured in grenade blast in Tral, inquiry ordered

Srinagar: A militant was killed and a police was injured in a grenade blast at a police station in at south Kashmir district of Pulwama.Meanwhile, magisterial inquiry has been ordered in the incident.A Police Spokesperson said that at 1230 hrs on Monday, an HM militant, identified as Mushtaq Chopan, who was in custody of Police Station Tral, tried to escape from the police station, wearing a burqa.When he was near the main gate, someone from outside lobbed a grenade, as part of a planned conspiracy to divert the attention, so he could escape conveniently, the spokesman further said.

He said the grenade exploded inside the station, resulting in on the spot death of the militant and injury to Constable Mehrajuddin.'The injured was rushed to a local hospital, from where he was referred to the Army hospital, whereas the body of the detenue was being taken for autopsy,' he added.Meanwhile, he said a magisterial enquiry has been initiated into the incident.Chopan was apprehended by police last month, he added.
