Mumbai Police registered FIR against all staff of Republic TV

Mumbai:on Friday registered a case against the editorial staff of for allegedly defaming them through certain news.
The case was lodged at N M Joshi Marg Police Station after CID Police Sub-Inspector Shashikant Pawar registered a complaint against the news channel. As per the complainant, certain reports were broadcast on Thursday which allegedly defamed the Mumbai Police and their Commissioner Singh.

The channel had broadcast a report "Revolt Against Param Bir? Senior Officers Part of Probe Give Details".
An was registered against Republic TV executive editor Niranjan Narayanswamy, deputy news editor Sagarika Mitra, anchor/senior associate editor Shivani Gupta, deputy editor Shawan Sen, and several editorial and newsroom staff.
 
The Republic TV called the action by the police as "witch-hunt" and "assault on media rights".(UNI)
