The meeting is taking place close on the heels of Sukma incident in Chhattisgarh in which 25 CRPF personnel were killed in an ambush. He said there was need of having fool-proof measures to prevent Sukma-like incidents. 'Should we react only after the incident. Or should we adopt proactive approach at all levels,' he said. He pointed out that as compared to other Naxal-affected states, Chhattisgarh had least connectivity.
The Home Minister said aggressive strategies should be adopted in the planning, coordination and operational levels to meet the challenge. He asserted that the new strategy adopted by the government had yielded good result in the last three years with the number of incidents coming down and the number of Naxals killed going up.
