BCCI nominates Dhoni for Padma Bhushan award

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today nominated former Team India skipper for the prestigious - for his contribution to the game.As per reports, the Board has sent only one name for the Padma awards this year which was a unanimous decision.Dhoni is the only Indian captain to lift two World Cups beside smashing around 10,000 runs in ODI cricket.

The Ranchi lad has 9737 ODI runs in 302 ODIs besides 4876 runs in 90 Test matches and 1212 runs in 78 T20.Dhoni has 16 international hundreds (6 in Tests and 10 in ODIs) along with 100 international half-centuries.Dhoni is already a recipient of the prestigious Arjuna, and the Padma Shri award and if the 36-year-old is conferred with Padma Bhushan, he will become the 11th Indian cricketer to get the third highest civilian honour.(UNI)
