Sydney: Indian batsman has been ruled out of the remaining two Test matches against Australia due to a wrist injury during practice in Melbourne. Team India has suffered a major setback due to Rahul's exit from the remaining Test series.
Rahul did not get a chance to play in the first two matches of the current series. The third match of the 4-match series will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from Thursday.
BCCI said in a statement, "KL Rahul got strain on his left wrist while batting at the nets during the Indian team's practice session at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) on Saturday."
Board added, "The wicket-keeper batsman will not be available for the remaining two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he needs three weeks to recover from injury."
Rahul has returned to India and will go to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for rehabilitation. Due to this injury, he is also doubtful to play in the opening matches of the 4 match home series against England starting on 5 February.(WD)
