Islamabad HC to hear a plea of a woman seeking sex change on international women’s day

Islamabad: A 27-year-old has moved Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking (sex change) surgery, according to a Dunya News report.The petitioner told court on Tuesday that she experienced gender dysphoria at the age of 13 and consulted with doctors who recommended her the sex reassignment surgery.


She reasoned that she has been in mental distress since the recommendation.The petitioner further noted that she has arranged expenses for the surgery, adding that she may face legal hurdles in changing her name after the sex change.The 27-year-old sought court orders to all institutions for the gender change.The petitioner also attached medical report with the application.The court will hear the case on March 8.In 2008, Justice Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon of the (LHC) had allowed a girl from Faisalabad to undergo (sex change) surgery.(UNI)
