Explaining the inspiration behind the outfit, Cheney Chan described the look as a reinterpretation of formal tailoring that blends structure with fluidity and instinct.
“For the Cannes red carpet, Cheney Chan reimagines formal tailoring through a dialogue between structure and instinct. Sharp suiting elements are softened through movement and texture, creating a silhouette suspended between reality and fantasy,” the designer wrote.

Chan further revealed that the sculptural cat-ear-inspired shawl symbolized mystery, elegance and a free-spirited energy. The outfit also drew inspiration from the designer’s signature “Feng Ya Qi” silhouette, combining graceful Eastern influences with modern couture craftsmanship.
The 2026 Cannes Film Festival concluded on Saturday after celebrating some of the biggest cinematic and fashion moments from around the world.
