‘Price of cold drink nowadays’: Amitabh Bachchan shares vintage Rs 20 ticket of iconic film 'Sholay'
Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan took a nostalgic detour into the past by sharing a rare artefact from the golden age of Hindi cinema, an original cinema ticket from his 1975 blockbuster "Sholay", priced at a modest Rs 20.
In a blog entry, the megastar shared an image of the faded ticket, along with candid snapshots from his weekly Sunday interaction with fans at his Mumbai residence. The photograph of the vintage ticket served as a poignant reminder of simpler times in Indian cinema.
"The 'SHOLAY' ticket .. kept and preserved... Rs 20 !! the price .. !!!!!?? I am told that is the price of an aerated drink in Theatre Halls nowadays .. is that a fact ?? So much to say , but say not ..affection and love," he wrote in the caption.
Directed by Ramesh Sippy, Sholay remains a landmark in Indian cinema. Bachchan’s portrayal of Jai and his camaraderie with Dharmendra’s Veeru are etched into Bollywood history. The film will complete 50 years this August. It also featured Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan, Amjad Khan, and Sanjeev Kumar in pivotal roles, and became the highest-grossing Indian film of its time.
