Sairaab Actor Rohit Chandel Arrested Under POCSO for Alleged Stalking and Assault of 16-Year-Old Girl
Television actor Rohit Chandel has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly stalking, harassing and assaulting a 16-year-old girl in the city's eastern suburbs. A case has been registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police officials, the minor lodged a complaint alleging that Chandel continued to contact her despite her repeatedly expressing her unwillingness to communicate with him.
Investigators said the actor allegedly made repeated phone calls from his own mobile number as well as other phone numbers after the teenager stopped responding to him.

The complaint further states that the accused allegedly continued to follow and harass the girl over a period of time. Police said that on July 5, Chandel allegedly intercepted the minor near her residential complex in Mumbai's eastern suburbs, where he is accused of verbally abusing and physically assaulting her.
Following a preliminary inquiry, the Mumbai Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the POCSO Act, considering the complainant is a minor, along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to stalking, harassment and voluntarily causing hurt.
Police sources said the accused and the complainant were previously acquainted, though officials have not disclosed the nature of their relationship.
