Nayara Energy Cuts Petrol Price by Rs.5, Diesel by Rs.3 Amid Falling Global Oil Prices. Check Today's Rates In Your City
Nayara Energy, India’s largest private fuel retailer, on Wednesday announced a reduction in fuel prices, cutting petrol by Rs.5 per litre and diesel by Rs.3 per litre across its nationwide network. The move comes as international crude oil prices ease following a decline in geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
This marks the first reduction in retail fuel prices by any company in over two years, driven by a softening in global oil markets.
According to industry sources, the revised rates have been implemented across all of Nayara Energy’s more than 7,000 fuel stations in India. However, actual pump prices may still vary across states due to local taxes such as value-added tax (VAT).
The price cut follows a drop in global crude benchmarks after tensions in West Asia subsided and the Strait of Hormuz reopened, restoring the movement of crude oil and liquefied natural gas and easing supply concerns.
A petrol pump owner in Lucknow told ANI that Nayara’s pricing had previously been higher than government-run retailers by Rs.5 per litre for petrol and Rs.3 per litre for diesel, but the latest revision has reversed that difference, making fuel cheaper at its outlets from July 1, 2026.
Earlier, Nayara Energy had increased fuel prices on March 26 by Rs.5 per litre for petrol and Rs.3 per litre for diesel following a spike in global oil prices triggered by conflict in Iran. Subsequently, state-run oil companies also raised fuel prices by up to Rs.7.50 per litre in May amid elevated crude oil costs.
Meanwhile, public sector oil marketing companies — Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) — have kept fuel prices unchanged. These state-run retailers together operate over 90% of India’s fuel stations.
