HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel Lead Rs 92,995 Crore Jump in Market Value of Top 10 Firms

The combined market valuation of four of India's 10 most valuable companies increased by Rs 92,995.48 crore last week, with HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel emerging as the biggest contributors to the gains despite a weak performance in the broader equity market.

During the week, the BSE Sensex declined by 194.52 points (0.25%), while the Nifty 50 slipped 63.95 points (0.26%), reflecting cautious investor sentiment.

Among the top 10 listed companies, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) registered gains in their market capitalisation, while ICICI Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Hindustan Unilever witnessed declines.

HDFC Bank recorded the highest increase in valuation, adding Rs 35,808.09 crore to take its market capitalisation to Rs 12,69,454.42 crore. Bharti Airtel followed closely, with its valuation rising by Rs 34,896.92 crore to Rs 11,98,774.22 crore.

LIC also posted healthy gains, with its market value increasing by Rs 16,065.50 crore to Rs 5,60,205.05 crore. Reliance Industries added Rs 6,224.97 crore, taking its market capitalisation to Rs 17,71,206.33 crore, retaining its position as India's most valuable listed company.

On the losing side, ICICI Bank saw its market value decline by Rs 6,315.32 crore to Rs 10,05,379.71 crore, while SBI lost Rs 3,461.48 crore, bringing its valuation down to Rs 9,56,430.44 crore.

Bajaj Finance shed Rs 7,813.58 crore, ending the week with a market capitalisation of Rs 6,35,327.78 crore. Hindustan Unilever lost Rs 12,088.65 crore, while Larsen & Toubro and TCS saw their valuations fall by Rs 11,040.23 crore and Rs 8,574.87 crore, respectively.

In terms of market capitalisation rankings, Reliance Industries remained the country's most valuable company, followed by HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, TCS, Bajaj Finance, LIC, Larsen & Toubro, and Hindustan Unilever.
