M-cap of 9 out of India's top 10 companies rises by Rs 2.51 lakh crore; Bajaj Finance leads gains

Bajaj Finance
The combined market capitalisation of nine of India's 10 most valuable companies increased by Rs 2.51 lakh crore during the past week, with Bajaj Finance registering the biggest gain as stock markets extended their upward momentum.

During the week, the benchmark BSE Sensex advanced 2,034.87 points, or 2.67 per cent, while the NSE Nifty climbed 616.15 points, representing a gain of 2.59 per cent.

Ajit Mishra, Senior Vice-President of Research at Religare Broking Ltd, attributed the rally to several positive factors.

"Markets staged a strong rebound during the week, snapping their recent losing streak as easing crude oil prices, improving geopolitical sentiment, encouraging Q1 FY27 earnings, and renewed foreign institutional investor (FII) buying lifted risk appetite," Mishra said.

Among the country's 10 most valuable companies, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) recorded gains. The non-banking financial company witnessed a sharp rise in its share price after reporting a 28 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated profit after tax for the June quarter of FY27. ALSO READ: Net FDI declines to $6.95 billion in FY26 due to higher foreign investor repatriation, govt tells Parliament
