The Gujarat government has announced a major relief for farmers under the Kisan Parivahan Yojana, aiming to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve farmers’ financial condition. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government has significantly increased the subsidy offered on the purchase of ‘Sanedo’ — a ride-on self-propelled multipurpose agricultural vehicle widely used by farmers.
Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani said the decision was taken in response to long-standing demands from farmers. Earlier, the subsidy amount was limited to Rs 25,000, but the government has now raised the financial assistance substantially to benefit more farmers.
‘Sanedo’ Becomes a Big Support for Small Farmers and Women
The three-wheeler agricultural vehicle, popularly known as ‘Sanedo,’ is widely used in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region for farming activities and transportation of goods. It helps reduce transportation costs and allows farmers to move agricultural produce quickly and efficiently.

- General category farmers will receive 40% of the total cost of the vehicle or a maximum subsidy of Rs 60,000.
- Farmers belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), small and marginal farmers from the general category, and women farmers will receive 50% of the total cost or a maximum subsidy of Rs 75,000.
Important Rules and Conditions
To ensure that genuine and needy farmers benefit from the scheme, the government has introduced several conditions:
- A farmer can avail the subsidy only once in seven years.
- The vehicle must be tested and approved by a Government of India-recognized agency.
- The equipment must be registered on the i-Khedut portal.
- The vehicle can only be used for transporting agricultural produce.
- Farmers will not be allowed to sell the vehicle for two years after purchase.
- No modifications will be permitted for passenger transportation purposes.
Farmers Welcome Government’s Decision
The announcement has been welcomed by farmers and agricultural organizations across Gujarat. Many farmers expressed gratitude to the state government, saying the increased subsidy would reduce transportation expenses and help them deliver crops to markets on time.
The scheme is expected to particularly benefit farmers living in rural and remote areas by improving access to affordable agricultural transport and boosting overall farm profitability.
