A year after the devastating Ahmedabad plane crash of June 12, 2025, the Gujarat government has announced an ambitious Rs. 547-crore redevelopment plan for the disaster-hit area in Meghani Nagar. The project aims to transform the site from a place marked by tragedy into a state-of-the-art hub for healthcare, medical education, and research.
Announcing the initiative, Gujarat Minister of State for Health Praful Pansheriya said the government is committed to converting the painful memories of the crash into a symbol of public service by developing the area into a modern "Temple of Health" and "Temple of Education."

A major component of the redevelopment plan is the construction of a cutting-edge Paraplegia and Spine Hospital, along with a dedicated rehabilitation center and a physiotherapy college.

The facility will focus on treating patients suffering from spinal injuries and lower-body paralysis while also providing advanced rehabilitation services.
