PM Modi to Address Gen Z Issues in Vadodara, Engage With Youth 11 Years After Leaving Constituency
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Gujarat after returning from his foreign tour, with Vadodara emerging as the key venue for his interaction with young people.
The Prime Minister is expected to address issues concerning Gen Z and the youth, while responding to questions and criticism from the Opposition. Vadodara holds particular significance for Modi, as it was his parliamentary constituency when he contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Preparations for the event began following a meeting held in Delhi under the leadership of BJP national president Nitin Nabin. The programme is also being viewed against the backdrop of recent youth-related issues, including the NEET paper leak controversy and Gen Z-led protests.
Modi is expected to interact directly with students and young people at a university, making the event an important outreach initiative.
Special Event at MS University Pavilion
The Maharaja Sayajirao University (MS University) Pavilion has been finalised as the venue for the Prime Minister's main programme.
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and BJP Yuva Morcha president Hemang Joshi inspected the venue as preparations gathered pace.
More than 6,000 students and young people are expected to attend the special programme scheduled for September 8.
Vadodara has also featured prominently in Modi's political itinerary in recent years. Following Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister held his first roadshow in the city.
Modi’s Long-Standing Connect With Vadodara
Vadodara has played a significant role in Modi's political journey.
During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, when Modi contested from Vadodara, he secured 8,45,464 votes, accounting for 72.75% of the total votes polled.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Hemang Joshi won the Vadodara seat with 8,73,189 votes, or 72.04% of the total vote share.
Modi also held his final victory rally in Vadodara before taking oath as Prime Minister in 2014.
His association with the city dates back even further. As an RSS pracharak and BJP organisational worker, Modi spent considerable time in Vadodara and Gujarat.
Why This Visit Is Politically Significant
Modi's Vadodara visit comes 10 days before his birthday on September 17, when he will turn 76.
Another significant milestone is approaching on October 7, when Modi is set to complete 25 years in constitutional office.
Against the backdrop of these milestones and upcoming political developments, his decision to engage directly with students and young voters is being viewed as part of the BJP's broader youth outreach strategy.
Tight Security, Nationwide Live Broadcast
Security arrangements have been strengthened at the university pavilion ahead of the Prime Minister's visit.
While the number of students physically attending the programme will be restricted, the event is expected to be broadcast live across the country.
The live broadcast will allow a much larger audience of young people to hear Modi's message and follow his interaction with students, extending the reach of the Vadodara programme beyond the university campus.
