Surat Flood Relief: Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi Reviews Rescue Work, Over 800 Families Receive Immediate Cash Aid
The Gujarat government has stepped up relief operations in flood-hit Surat, with Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi holding a late-night high-level meeting with senior administrative officials to review the ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
Following the severe flooding situation in the city, the entire Surat administration has been working on a war footing to ensure timely assistance reaches affected residents.
Door-to-Door Survey Completed, Cash Assistance Provided to Families
As part of the relief measures, authorities have completed a door-to-door survey of 9,100 flood-affected families across impacted areas.
So far, more than 800 families have received immediate financial aidssistance of Rs.6,800 each as cash aid and compensation support for household losses caused by the floods.

Officials said the survey process in the remaining affected areas will be completed soon, following which necessary assistance will be provided to all eligible families.
Special Support Measures for Traders and Businesses
Along with residential areas, authorities have also surveyed nearly 58 commercial zones affected by the flooding.
To speed up the insurance claim process for traders who suffered financial losses, a special nodal officer has been appointed to coordinate with businesses and ensure faster resolution.

Mega Cleanliness Drive Begins After Floodwaters Recede
To prevent health hazards and the spread of diseases after the floodwaters recede, Surat has launched a week-long special cleanliness campaign.
Around 4,500 sanitation workers from the Surat Municipal Corporation, along with more than 1,000 additional workers brought from Vadodara, will participate in the massive cleaning operation.

The administration has also deployed more than 50 high-capacity water pumps to remove accumulated water from basements of residential buildings, shops, and commercial complexes.
Harsh Sanghavi Visits Flood-Hit Areas
On Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi visited flood-affected areas, including business hubs such as Podar Arcade and Yash Plaza Complex in Varachha, to assess the situation on the ground.

During the visit, he interacted with traders and residents, listened to their concerns, and assured them that damage assessments would be conducted quickly to ensure proper relief.
