Akshaya Tritiya is observed on the third day (Tritiya) of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakh. This day is considered extremely auspicious because it falls under an Abujh Muhurat—a rare, naturally auspicious time when any good deed performed is believed to bring everlasting prosperity and never diminishes.

In 2026, there is a slight variation in the date depending on different Panchang calculations. While many calendars mark April 19 as Akshaya Tritiya, according to the Udaya Tithi (sunrise-based calculation), it will be observed on April 20, Monday.

As per Marathi and Gujarati calendars, as well as Drik Panchang and AstroSage, the festival falls on April 19. However, according to traditional Panchangs like Lala Ramswaroop and Lala Ramnarayan, Akshaya Tritiya will be observed on April 20 based on Udaya Tithi. 

What is Udaya Tithi?

Udaya Tithi refers to the lunar date that prevails at sunrise. According to Hindu scriptures, the tithi present at sunrise is considered valid for the entire day, even if it ends later in the morning or afternoon.

Marriage Muhurat

For weddings, the auspicious Godhuli Muhurat is available only on April 19. However, it is advisable to consult a priest before finalizing wedding timings.

Other Auspicious Activities

For activities like housewarming (Griha Pravesh), buying jewelry, or starting new ventures, you can choose either April 19 or April 20, while avoiding Rahu Kaal.
