Sawan 2026 Begins on July 30: Shiva Puja Muhurat, Jalabhishek Time, Mantra, Bhog & Aarti
The holy month of Sawan (Shravan), which is considered extremely dear to Lord Shiva, will begin on July 30, 2026 (Thursday). According to Hindu beliefs, worshipping Lord Shiva with proper rituals, performing Jalabhishek (offering water to Shivling), and observing fasts during Sawan brings divine blessings, prosperity, and fulfilment of wishes.
It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati during this sacred month helps devotees receive their blessings, including happiness, peace, and the boon of children. Many devotees also observe the 16 Somvar Vrat (16 Monday fasts) to seek Lord Shiva's grace and invite prosperity into their lives.
Sawan is also considered an auspicious period to worship Goddess Parvati. Every Tuesday during this month, devotees observe the Mangala Gauri Vrat, dedicated to Maa Parvati.

Sawan 2026 Start and End Date
The sacred month of Sawan will begin on July 30, 2026, and will conclude on August 28, 2026, on the occasion of Sawan Purnima.
Sawan Shiva Puja Vidhi
Devotees should wake up before sunrise, take a holy bath, and wear clean clothes. After cleaning the worship area, devotees should perform Shiva Puja with devotion.
Offer the following items to the Shivling:
- Water and Gangajal
- Bel Patra (Bael leaves)
- Bhang
- Dhatura
- Curd
- Ghee
- Sugar
- Honey
- Akshat (rice grains)
