Sawan Somwar Puja Vidhi 2026: Step-by-Step Worship Method
1. Bath and Take a Vow (Sankalp)
- Wake up before sunrise and take a holy bath.
- Wear clean clothes, preferably white or yellow.
- Sit before Lord Shiva and take the vow (sankalp) of observing the Sawan Monday fast.
- Take water and rice grains (akshat) in your hand while making your prayer.
2. Perform Shivling Abhishek With Water and Panchamrit
First, offer Gangajal mixed with pure water to the Shivling using a copper or brass vessel.
Perform Abhishek with Panchamrit made of milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar.
Finally, offer pure water again to cleanse the Shivling.

After Abhishek:
Apply sandalwood paste (white or yellow) on the Shivling.
