Bijnor Horror: Family Calls IVF Baby ‘Against Shariat’, Mother Alleges Death Threats
A shocking case was reported from Bijnor in western Uttar Pradesh, where a woman has accused her husband and in-laws of threatening to kill her newborn daughter born through IVF treatment, claiming the procedure is “against Shariat.”
Following the complaint, local police registered an FIR against six people on the orders of Bijnor SP and launched an investigation into the matter.
The incident pertains to Hussainabad alias Daulatabad village in the Kotwali Dehat area of Bijnor. According to the complaint filed by Gulshan, she married Furkan, son of Mohammad Ismail and a resident of Dahirpur village under Nangal police station limits, around 12 years ago.

The woman alleged that her in-laws had been harassing and assaulting her for years over dowry demands. Last year, with her husband’s consent, she underwent IVF treatment at a hospital in Ghaziabad and became pregnant.
According to the complaint, her brother-in-law Imran, sister-in-law Shamima, and Shamima’s father Shameem, a resident of Rehra village under Heempur Deepa police station area, came to know about the IVF pregnancy. The woman alleged that, fearing division of family property, they started spreading claims that IVF technology was against Islam and Shariat.

She further alleged that the accused pressured her to terminate the pregnancy and opposed the birth of the child.
Gulshan stated that on April 4, her husband Furkan, brother-in-law Imran, sister-in-law Shamima, father-in-law Ismail, and other relatives visited her parental home in Daulatabad and assaulted her. They allegedly threatened that they would not allow the child conceived through IVF to be born. The accused reportedly left after family members intervened.

Acting on the directions of SP Abhishek Jha, police have registered a case against Furkan, Imran, Shamima, Ismail, Hanisha, and Shameem. Station House Officer Vikas Kumar said that an investigation is underway and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
