COVID-19: Number of cured patients in India surpass active cases

New Delhi:Health Ministry figures released on Wednesday showed that the country had more patients than active cases, pushing the overall recovery rate to about 49 per cent.
As many as 1,35,205 patients have been cured of since the outbreak, whereas the number of active patients in the country stands at 1,33,632, the data revealed.
A total of 5,991 patients have recovered since Tuesday, the government data said.However, India's count surged past 2,76,583 after 9,985 fresh infections were reported in the past 24 hours.
The number of deaths from the pandemic zoomed to 7,745 with at least 274 people succumbing to since Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) chairman Lt Governor Anil Baijal chaired a meeting of top officials to discuss the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the national capital wherein Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia said that there is no community spread in Delhi quoting central government officials. "However, the union territory is expected to see 5.5 lakh Covid-19 cases by July 31," he added.
During the meeting, LG suggested transforming the stadiums and luxury hotels in the national capital into health care facilities. (UNI)
