Delhi Metro Alert: 11 Stations Shut Amid Jantar Mantar Protest, Check Full List

Delhi Metro
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday suspended entry and exit at 11 stations, including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat and Jantar Mantar, following calls for protests by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and student organisations.

The protests have been announced over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with the AAP and student groups demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and alleging large-scale deletion of voters.

According to the DMRC, entry and exit have been closed at Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Teerth, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg and New Delhi stations until further notice.

However, passengers can continue to use the interchange facility at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, New Delhi and Central Secretariat stations, the DMRC said in a post on X.

The AAP, All India Students' Association (AISA), National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and Indian Youth Congress (IYC) have separately announced protests at Jantar Mantar over the SIR exercise. The groups are seeking CEC Gyanesh Kumar's resignation and have alleged that the revision process has resulted in the mass deletion of voters. ALSO READ: All Saturdays Now Bank Holidays?
