Heavy Rains Trigger Deadly Landslide at Pavagadh Temple Route, 2 Pilgrims Killed, Several Feared Trapped

Pavagadh Landslide
A tragic accident occurred early Friday morning at the famous pilgrimage site of Pavagadh Hills in Gujarat, where massive boulders suddenly crashed down near Patiyapul, leaving at least two devotees dead and 15 others injured. Authorities fear that more pilgrims may still be trapped beneath the debris.

Heavy Rainfall Triggered Landslide

According to reports, the incident took place around 5:00 a.m. Continuous heavy rainfall in the region had significantly increased water flow on the hillside. The strong runoff reportedly loosened the soil, causing a landslide that dislodged several large rocks.

Many devotees heading to the temple for early morning darshan were caught off guard by the falling boulders. Rescue teams have so far recovered the bodies of two pilgrims from the rubble.

Rescue Operations Underway

Soon after the incident, the local ropeway team rushed to the site and began rescue efforts to pull victims from beneath the rocks and debris. The Pavagadh police were also alerted and quickly deployed personnel to the area.

Police, local authorities, and emergency response teams are currently conducting a joint rescue operation on a war footing to locate and evacuate those affected by the disaster.

More Victims Feared Trapped

Officials believe the scale of the rockfall may be larger than initially estimated, and there are concerns that several more pilgrims could still be trapped under the debris.

Rescue operations have been intensified, with teams working around the clock to clear the rubble and transport injured victims to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as the search and rescue mission continues.
