A case has been filed in the Kalahandi District Consumer Court in western Odisha against Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, along with cold drink giant PepsiCo and the Advertising Council of India, over an allegedly misleading beverage advertisement.
The first hearing in the case was held on December 22, while the next hearing is scheduled for January 19. Lawyers representing Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, the soft drink company and the advertising council are preparing their arguments ahead of the proceedings.
According to reports, the complaint revolves around the portrayal of energy and strength in a soft drink advertisement. The case has been filed by Deepak Dubey, a resident of Khariar. Interestingly, the compensation demanded in the petition is just Re 1, a detail that has generated widespread discussion.
Claim of ‘strength’ after drinking soft drink
As per the complaint, Deepak Dubey’s son participated in a race in school after watching the soft drink advertisement. The child believed that consuming the beverage would give him extra strength and help him win the race. However, he failed to secure victory.
