Maharashtra reports 15,817 fresh covid cases; highest one-day spike in 2021

Mumbai: The country on Friday reported 23,285 cases, of which 15,817 were detected in alone.

With this total tally in the state has surged to 22,81,181.
 
According to the health department, 56 more deaths were reported in the state in the last 24 hours, mounting the death toll to 52,723.
 
Meanwhile, a total of 11,344 patients recovered and were discharged in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 21,17,744 across the state.
 
The state government has so far tested 1,73,10,586 samples for the disease.
 
With this the recovery rate sharply goes down and stands at 92.79 percent and fatality rate is 2.31 percent.
 
At present 1,20,485 active patients across the state were undergoing treatment at different covid centres and hospitals, the health department added. (UNI)
