Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger son Prateek Yadav dies at 38
Prateek Yadav, the younger son of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and stepbrother of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, passed away on Wednesday morning. He was 38.
Prateek was brought to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow around 6 a.m., where doctors declared him dead. The cause of death is yet to be determined, and officials said clarity will emerge after the post-mortem report is released.
He was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife, Sadhna Gupta, and largely stayed away from active politics despite belonging to one of India’s most prominent political families.
Prateek pursued his education at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. Professionally, he was involved in real estate and the fitness industry. He owned a gym named “The Fitness Planet” in Lucknow and also ran an organisation called “Jeev Ashray,” dedicated to the care and treatment of stray dogs.
He was married to Aparna Yadav, a BJP leader and currently the Vice President of the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission. There had been reports of differences between the couple in recent times.
His untimely demise has left the Yadav family and close associates in deep mourning.
