Rape-murder accused of 8-year-old girl shot dead by UP police
Farrukhabad (UP): An accused allegedly involved in the rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in the town was killed on Friday in an encounter with the police.
The police said their team set up a trap after a tip-off. The accused opened fire at the police, which retaliated, injuring the suspect, police said, adding he was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

An 8-year-old girl who had come to her maternal grandmother's house in Kotwali Mohammadabad went missing on June 27. Her body was found in Bhogaon, Mainpuri, the next day on June 28.
The SP deployed more than six teams to arrest the accused. The suspect was identified through CCTV, Singh said.
