According to the complaint filed at Ratibad Police Station, the complainant, Vipendra Singh, a resident of Rewa, alleged that he was lured to Bhopal with the promise of employment as a cook at the Singh family's residence.

According to the complaint, he locked himself inside a room out of fear. However, he alleged that retired IPS officer Shailesh Singh, cricketer Shashank Singh, and their driver later assaulted him and used abusive language.
