Known for its humorous posts on X (formerly Twitter), Iceland Cricket joined the online criticism with a tongue-in-cheek message aimed at India's head coach.
The cricket board wrote that it had no intention of adding Gautam Gambhir to its coaching staff, while sarcastically praising his "talent" for producing such results with a star-studded Indian squad.

India entered the series as the reigning T20 World Champions and the world's top-ranked T20I side. However, they failed to win a single match against Ireland, losing the two-match series 2-0.

What's Next for Team India? England Tour Awaits After Ireland Setback
Nearly three months after successfully defending the T20 World Cup title, Team India, led by Shreyas Iyer, travelled to Ireland for a two-match T20I series. However, the tour ended in disappointment as India suffered defeats in both matches.
India lost the opening T20I in Belfast by 34 runs before falling agonisingly short by one run in a rain-affected second match on Sunday, handing Ireland a historic 2-0 series victory.
While India's bowling attack delivered encouraging performances throughout the series, the batting unit failed to live up to expectations.
Captain Shreyas Iyer, along with several senior players—including T20 World Cup 2026 Player of the Tournament Sanju Samson—struggled to make a meaningful impact. Following the defeats, Iyer also became only the second Indian captain to lose his first two T20 Internationals in charge.
India Set to Tour England
Team India will now look to bounce back quickly as they prepare for a five-match T20I series against England.
The squad is scheduled to leave for England later this week, with the opening T20I set to be played on July 1 at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street.
The second match will take place at Old Trafford, Manchester, on July 4.
