Cuttack: India pacer Deepak Chahar on Thursday was ruled out of the third and final ODI of the ongoing series against the West Indies due to the back injury. The All-India Senior Selection Committee named Navdeep Saini as his replacement and he will join the squad for the decider to be played here on Sunday.
''Deepak felt mild pain in his lower back following the second ODI played in Vizag on Wednesday. The BCCI medical team examined him and has suggested that the fast bowler needs some rest in order to fully recover. He has thus been ruled out of the final ODI, '' the BCCI said in a statement.
Chahar, who recently became the first Indian male bowler to take a hat-trick in T20I, had come into India reckoning only after two seasons with IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. While Saini started his India career during the three-match T20I series against the West Indies earlier this year. Playing his first match, he had brilliant bowling figures of 3/17.
The series is currently locked 1-1 with Windies winning the first ODI by eight wickets in Chennai while India won the second match by 107 runs in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
