Shakib Al Hasan's Ancestral Home Attacked With Petrol Bomb After Sheikh Hasina Event (VIDEO)

Shakib Al Hasan
The ancestral home of former Bangladesh captain and ex-member of Parliament Shakib Al Hasan was reportedly attacked and vandalised in Bangladesh's Magura district on Wednesday night, according to local media reports.

The incident took place just hours after Shakib appeared alongside former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a virtual press conference organised by the Foreign Correspondents' Club in New Delhi.

According to reports, the attack occurred at around 8:45 p.m. at Shakib's residence in the Keshabmore area of Magura. Unidentified individuals allegedly threw a petrol bomb at the property before damaging parts of the house. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

The Awami League condemned the incident, calling it a politically motivated attack and accusing its rivals of targeting party leaders and supporters.

During the virtual interaction, Sheikh Hasina, who has been living in India since leaving Bangladesh following widespread protests last year, reiterated her intention to return to her country despite the challenges ahead.

According to reports, Hasina stated that she was prepared to face imprisonment or even death if necessary, adding that her goal was to put Bangladesh back on the path of development and secularism.

The former prime minister is currently facing legal proceedings in Bangladesh, and authorities have reportedly requested her extradition from India.

As of now, Bangladeshi officials have not announced any arrests in connection with the attack. Authorities are expected to launch a detailed investigation to determine the motive behind the incident. ALSO READ: Why does Bangladesh want Sheikh Hasina extradited?
