Sri Lanka cricketer Shehan Madushanka held on drug charge

Colombo:Sri Lankan has been arrested on a charge of possessing heroin, police officials said on Monday.Madushanka, 25, was also remanded remanded for 14 days by a local magistrate in Pannala, northeast of the city of Negombo, ESPNcricinfo reported.
The cricketer was carrying just over two grams of when arrested on Saturday.Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva said the board had been made aware of the arrest on Monday morning, but had not made any decisions on the player's future. The board is expected to discuss the issue at their next meeting, on Wednesday.
 
The right-arm pace bowler took a hat-trick against Bangladesh on his ODI debut in January 2018. He also played two T20 matches against Bangladesh in 2018, but has not played an international since due to injuries and has not been in the frame for selection recently.However, he is an active cricketer and was playing in Sri Lanka's domestic competitions before the Covid-19 curfews came into effect.(UNI)
