THIS Ranji Hero Replaces Injured Jasprit Bumrah in India's Test Squad for Sri Lanka Tour
Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi has been named as Jasprit Bumrah's replacement in India's squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, marking a historic milestone as the first cricketer from the Kashmir Valley to earn a place in the national Test team.
Bumrah, who was initially included in the squad, has been ruled out after failing to recover completely from the left knee injury he suffered during the ODI series against England.
For Nabi, the selection marks his first call-up to the senior Indian side.
The 29-year-old fast bowler from Baramulla has become only the second player from Jammu and Kashmir to represent India after Parvez Rasool. Although he narrowly missed selection for India's previous assignments, his exceptional performances in domestic cricket over the past two seasons eventually earned him a place in the national squad.
Nabi played a key role in Jammu and Kashmir's historic Ranji Trophy triumph earlier this year. Across the past two seasons, he claimed an impressive 104 wickets, including 60 wickets during the 2025-26 campaign.

India will be led by Shubman Gill, while KL Rahul has been named vice-captain for the series. The squad also includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, among others.
India's updated squad for the Sri Lanka Test series includes Shubman Gill (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal, Saransh Jain and Auqib Nabi.
Sai Sudharsan's participation remains subject to fitness clearance.
