Sylhet: The Indian women's cricket team emerged victorious against Bangladesh, triumphing by 19 runs in a rain-affected T20 match here on Tuesday.
The bowlers played a decisive role in India's success, restricting Bangladesh to 119 runs before weather conditions halted play.
Radha Yadav spearheaded India's bowling attack, claiming three crucial wickets for just 19 runs. Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil provided valuable support, securing two wickets each to keep Bangladesh's batting lineup in check.
Bangladesh's innings got off to a shaky start, losing early wickets and struggling to build momentum against the relentless Indian bowling attack.
Despite Murshida Khatun's commendable effort with the bat, scoring 46 runs, the team faltered under pressure, with key players like captain Nigar Sultana failing to make significant contributions.
The Indian batting duo of Smriti Mandhana and Dayalan Hemlatha displayed promising form before the rain interruption, guiding their team to a solid position with 47 runs for the loss of just one wicket.
With play suspended due to adverse weather conditions, the match officials invoked the Duckworth-Lewis method, declaring India the winners by 19 runs based on their superior performance up to that point.
