Katarniaghat Eco-Tourism Booms: Over 12,000 Visitors Generate Rs.24 Lakh Revenue in 2025–26

The Uttar Pradesh government's continued focus on wildlife conservation, environmental protection, and eco-tourism is delivering encouraging results, with Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary emerging as one of the state's fastest-growing nature tourism destinations.

Driven by the Yogi Adityanath government's initiatives to improve tourist infrastructure, strengthen wildlife conservation, and promote sustainable tourism, the sanctuary witnessed a significant rise in visitor numbers during the 2025–26 tourism season.

More Than 12,000 Tourists Visited Katarniaghat

According to official figures, 12,331 tourists, including 12,298 domestic visitors and 33 foreign tourists, explored Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary between November 2025 and June 2026.

The growing footfall highlights the increasing popularity of nature-based tourism in Uttar Pradesh and reflects visitors' confidence in the state's improved tourism facilities.

Revenue Crosses Rs.24 Lakh

The sanctuary also recorded a healthy increase in tourism revenue during the season.

From November 2025 to June 2026, Katarniaghat generated Rs.24,00,337 in revenue through tourism activities, underscoring the growing demand for wildlife and eco-tourism experiences in the region.

January Recorded the Highest Tourist Footfall

January emerged as the busiest month of the season, with 2,980 domestic tourists visiting the sanctuary.

However, November 2025 proved to be the most successful month in terms of earnings, generating Rs.4,78,484 in revenue—the highest monthly collection during the tourism season.

In February 2026, the sanctuary welcomed 701 visitors and earned Rs.1,33,494, while June closed the season on a positive note with 1,694 tourists.
