At least 14 people lost their lives after a massive fire broke out in a building housing a coaching centre in Lucknow's Aliganj area on Monday. Several others sustained injuries as panic-stricken students attempted to escape the blaze, with some reportedly jumping from the first floor of the building.
The fire engulfed the commercial building, which also housed an animation training centre and a pet shop, triggering a large-scale rescue operation by fire and emergency services.

According to officials, the fire raged for more than an hour before firefighters managed to bring it under control. Rescue teams recovered at least 14 bodies from the premises after the flames were extinguished, reports said.

Eyewitnesses said several people were trapped inside the building when the fire broke out. Videos circulating on social media showed an individual falling while trying to escape from an upper floor. Locals were seen helping him to safety before he was taken for medical treatment.

CM Yogi Expresses Condolences
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.
The Chief Minister directed senior officials to remain in contact with the affected families and ensure all possible assistance is provided. He also instructed authorities to arrange the best available medical treatment for those injured in the incident.

PM Modi Announces Ex-Gratia Relief
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the tragedy and announced financial assistance from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
An ex-gratia payment of Rs.2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased victim, while those injured in the incident will receive Rs.50,000 as compensation.
