‘Pyar Se Manenge To Theek, Nahi To…’: Yogi Adityanath's Stern Warning Against Namaz on Roads

Yogi Adityanath
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday issued a strong warning against offering namaz on roads, stating that his government will not allow traffic disruptions or “anarchy” in the name of religious gatherings.

Addressing an event in Lucknow, CM Yogi said prayers should only be conducted at designated religious places and not on roads meant for public use.

Adityanath said people often ask whether namaz is offered on roads in Uttar Pradesh, to which he responds that such practices are not permitted in the state. Stressing the importance of maintaining public order, he questioned the right of anyone to block roads for religious activities.

The Chief Minister suggested that if places of worship cannot accommodate large crowds at once, prayers should be conducted in shifts. He added that the government has no objection to religious practices as long as they are carried out within the framework of law and order.

He further warned that while the administration prefers dialogue and peaceful compliance, authorities would take strict action if rules are violated. Referring to past incidents in Bareilly, Adityanath said some individuals had previously challenged the government’s resolve and were shown the administration’s “strength.”
