Yogi Adityanath Calls Kanwar Yatra Symbol of Faith, Discipline and Harmony
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has described the Kanwar Yatra as a grand festival representing faith, discipline and social harmony, while directing authorities to maintain strict vigilance and ensure peaceful conduct of the religious event.
During a late-night video conference review meeting on Thursday, the Chief Minister instructed officials to follow a zero-tolerance policy against anti-social elements attempting to disrupt the yatra. He also directed authorities to immediately counter misinformation and rumours with factual clarifications.
Yogi Adityanath said that any attempt to create disorder, spread chaos or indulge in hooliganism during religious events would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Kanwar Yatra reflects social harmony, says Yogi
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Kanwar Yatra, which witnesses participation from lakhs of devotees, has emerged as an example of unity and social harmony at a time when attempts are being made to create divisions in society.
He appreciated the efforts of various social and voluntary organisations that are providing services to Kanwar devotees along with government agencies, calling it a positive example of community participation.
During the meeting, ADG Meerut informed the Chief Minister that neighbouring states were extending full cooperation in managing the yatra. The Ghaziabad Police Commissioner said that around 70,000 Kanwariyas had already passed through the district, with police personnel and volunteers deployed on the routes.
Authorities expect the number of devotees to rise further in the coming days.
Special security arrangements in Bareilly
The Chief Minister directed officials to maintain extra alertness in Bareilly due to the simultaneous occurrence of the Kanwar Yatra and Ala Hazrat Urs.
Yogi appreciated the efforts of the Muslim community for maintaining harmony during the Urs celebrations, including arrangements for vegetarian food distribution and respecting the sentiments of Shiv devotees.
He said such initiatives reflected mutual respect, sensitivity and peaceful coexistence among communities.
No shortage of fertilisers in UP: CM
Reviewing the availability of urea, DAP and other fertilisers, Yogi Adityanath said there was no shortage of fertilisers in the state and instructed officials to ensure a smooth and transparent distribution system.
District Magistrates were directed to ensure that farmers do not face difficulties and that additional staff is deployed at PACS centres wherever required.
The Chief Minister ordered strict action against black marketing of fertilisers and instructed that distribution should take place only after verification of Khatauni records. Special monitoring was also ordered in districts bordering Nepal.
Strict action on crimes against women
Expressing concern over recent incidents of crimes against women, the Chief Minister said women's safety remains the government's top priority and no negligence would be tolerated.
He directed officials to strengthen the implementation of Mission Shakti and ensure effective deployment of the state's more than 45,000 women police personnel.
Yogi also instructed police departments to increase patrolling in sensitive areas, publicly identify habitual offenders involved in eve-teasing and snatching, and take strict action against officials found negligent in women's safety matters.
Focus on flood relief and erosion control
The Chief Minister also reviewed flood preparedness and relief operations in eight affected districts, including Ballia, Barabanki and Unnao.
He instructed officials to continue relief efforts with urgency and ensure that residents of affected and isolated villages receive immediate assistance.
Authorities were directed to take preventive measures against river erosion in districts including Siddharthnagar, Shravasti, Kushinagar, Muzaffarnagar and Ballia.
Yogi also ordered that families affected by erosion in Ballia should be provided land allotments and houses at the earliest.
With forecasts indicating good rainfall in the coming week, he directed all departments and district administrations to remain fully prepared.
Safety checks ordered for school vehicles
Reviewing the safety arrangements for school children, the Chief Minister instructed officials to allow only vehicles meeting all prescribed fitness standards to operate.
He also ordered verification of e-rickshaw, taxi and school vehicle drivers to ensure the safety of students and the public.
The meeting was attended by senior state officials, including the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Relief Commissioner and heads of concerned departments. Divisional Commissioners, District Magistrates, Police Commissioners, SSPs and SPs also participated through video conferencing and shared updates from their respective districts.
