A Father Waited for His 3 Daughters Until the End, but No One Came, Instead They Watched His Funeral on Video Call
A heartbreaking incident from Sonipat has once again raised questions about changing family bonds and the importance of relationships in today’s world. A 74-year-old father, who spent his life educating and supporting his three daughters, passed away with one final wish — to see his children one last time. Sadly, that wish remained unfulfilled.
Shivcharan Ramratan Gupta, a former cloth businessman from Maharashtra, died after a prolonged illness while staying at an old age home in Sonipat, Haryana. However, when the time came to bid him a final farewell, none of his three daughters reached the cremation ground. The entire last journey of the father who had built his daughters’ futures was witnessed by them only through a video call.
The emotional incident has gone viral on social media, leaving many people deeply saddened and questioning the changing values of family relationships.
A Father Who Built His Daughters’ Futures
According to reports, Shivcharan Ramratan Gupta was once a successful cloth trader in Maharashtra. Around one-and-a-half years ago, he moved to a Sonipat old age home with his wife, Meena Gupta.
The couple did not have a son, but Shivcharan ensured that his three daughters received a good education and became independent. Two of his daughters became teachers. Daughters Were Informed About His Critical Condition
Old age home operator Anand Kumar said that Shivcharan’s health deteriorated nearly 20 days before his death. The management informed his daughters — Anita, Nisha, and Priya — about his condition and requested them to visit him.
However, none of them arrived to meet their father.
Anand Kumar said Shivcharan used to speak with his daughters over the phone, but as his illness worsened, their calls gradually stopped. Even after repeated attempts by the old age home to contact them, they did not come.
On the night of his death, the daughters were informed again. The management told them that the cremation could be delayed if they were on their way. However, there was no confirmation of their arrival.
Final Goodbye Through a Video Call
Shivcharan’s eldest daughter Anita, who works as a teacher in Nepal, his second daughter Nisha, who lives in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and his youngest daughter Priya, who lives in Mumbai, did not attend the last rites.
Instead, they watched the cremation ceremony through a video call.
Anita reportedly sent Rs.5,100 online and requested that her father’s final rites be performed according to religious customs.
Initially, the daughters asked the old age home management to preserve their father’s ashes. Later, they informed them that they would not be able to come and requested the management to immerse the ashes in the Ganga on their behalf.
Society Comes Forward for the Last Rites
After the daughters’ inability to attend the funeral, members of the local community and the old age home management came together to perform Shivcharan Ramratan Gupta’s final rites with dignity.
