M Mohammed Bashir, a resident of Vandipetta, Kozhikode, was trying to cancel train tickets on IRCTC website as his travel plans changed

Then he received a call from a person who was pretending to be a railway official

He persuaded Basheer to download a mobile app called 'Rest Desk', which allowed the scammers to access his phone

Baseer soon received notification that money had been withdrawn from his savings account

The money was taken out in 4 different transactions, with a total of Rs 4,05,919

Basheer then formatted his phone to prevent further data breaches
