Quit India Debate: Sonia makes veiled attack on RSS

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi today made a veiled attack on the RSS and other Sangh Parivar outfits and said many organisations did not have any role in the Freedom struggle. Speaking in the Lok Sabha during a debate to commemorate 75th anniversary of Quit India movement, she said remembering Quit India movement at this juncture also should make citizens responsible towards issues like secularism and tolerance.

"We must not forget that some organisations have no role in Freedom struggle," Ms Gandhi said. She also said a lot of atrocities were committed on the protesters, but no one stepped back. She also said that during Freedom struggle, Pt Nehru spent several years in jail and many Congress men and women workers died in incarceration. (UNI)
