Friday, 16 June 2017 (18:27 IST)
New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat today called on President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan here. The Bhagwat-Mukherjee meeting, a rare one, sparked speculation in political circles though it was described as a ``courtesy call' over lunch.

The meeting came amid push by the Shiv Sena for Mohan Bhagwat's candidature for the country's next President. In a tweet, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said that Mr. Bhagwat was their first choice as the next President.`If someone has an objection, we proposed the name of MS Swaminathan,' he added. (UNI)
