India COVID-19 cases drop below 1 Lakh mark

New Delhi: India has witnessed a significant drop in the Covid-19 cases with infection dropping below 1 lakh mark.

A total 83,876 cases were registered, while the daily positivity rate stood at 7.25 per cent, as per the Union Health Ministry data on Monday.

A total 895 people succumbed to the virus, taking the toll to 5,02,874.

The Ministry said the total active cases in the country stood at 11,08,938. The active cases comprise 2.62 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has decreased to 95. 19 per cent.

The recovery tally rose to 4,06,60,202 as 1,99,054 people got freed from the disease.

According to the bulletin issued, 74.15 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far. In the last 24 hours, a total of 11,56,363 tests have been conducted.

"India has administered 169.63 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive," Ministry data said.

Meanwhile, full attendance in office has resumed for all government employees from Monday onwards, said Union minister Jitendra Singh.

Delhi on Sunday recorded 1,410 Covid-19 cases, and 14 deaths. Positivity rate in the national capital stood at 2.45 per cent. (UNI)
