Kolkata: The CBI today arrested actor turned politician of West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Paul for his alleged involvement in the Rose Valley chit fund scam.The CBI after grilling him for more than four hours in the CGO complex finally arrested the 58-year-old actor turn politician representing Krishnanagar Lok Sabhaseat in Nadia.Mr Paul had been one of the directors of Rose Valley group in 2011-12and influenced the company to invest in the Bengali films.
Mr Paul also has allegedly taken money from the company several times.The CBI sources said Mr Paul did not cooperate the investigating agency and was trying to twist the fact.TMC general secretary Partha Chatterjee condemned the arrest saying the Central government was pursing vendetta politics to pressurize Chief Minister MamataBanerjee, who is leading the demonetisation issue.(UNI)
