Hardik Patel held at MP border

Tuesday, 13 June 2017 (17:00 IST)
Neemuch: Gujarat’s Patidar leader Hardik Patel was today arrested by police at Nayagaon in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district while he was heading to Mandsaur to meet family members of those killed in police firing during a farmers’ agitation on June 6. Mr Patel was trying to reach Piplia Mandi in Mandsaur from Rajasthan’s Udaipur and Nimbahera but he was not permitted by the district administration.

Soon after his arrest, he told media that every citizen in independent India has the right to go to the resident of a bereaved family and express condolences. He alleged that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan got him arrested in an undemocratic manner. Mr Patal was being taken from Nayagaon to Indore. Earlier, Mr Patel was scheduled to arrive in Mandsaur yesterday but it was cancelled. (UNI)
