Indrajaal, Sigma Secure Rs.155 Crore Anti-Drone Vehicle Orders
Indrajaal Autonomous Defense Systems and Sigma Advanced Systems on Monday announced government orders worth around Rs.155 crore for the Indrajaal Ranger, a mobile anti-drone patrol vehicle designed for security operations.
Of the total order value, the Indrajaal-Sigma consortium has received a Rs.145 crore order for border security, while a separate order worth around Rs.10 crore will deploy the system for VVIP protection and urban security, the companies said in a statement.
The Ranger is designed to detect, track, identify and counter rogue drones while on the move, providing security agencies with mobile protection against low-altitude aerial threats.
The vehicle combines sensors, artificial intelligence, sensor fusion, command-and-control systems and multiple counter-drone technologies through its SkyOS platform. Its capabilities include taking control of rogue drones, creating virtual protective airspace and physically intercepting hostile drones.
According to the companies, the system has undergone government evaluations and has been selected by the Ministry of Home Affairs for operational deployment.
Indrajaal Founder and CEO Kiran Raju Penumacha said the threat posed by drones is no longer limited to battlefields and increasingly extends to borders, airports, cities, public events, critical infrastructure and VVIP movements.
He said mobile counter-drone systems are therefore becoming an important component of homeland security.
Sigma Advanced Systems CEO Sunil Kalidindi said the programme highlights India's growing indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and its ability to develop and deploy advanced security technologies at scale.
The orders mark a significant step for India's domestic counter-drone ecosystem as security agencies increasingly focus on protecting sensitive locations and high-value assets from evolving drone threats.
