Disciplined growth earns CRISIL A- rating for Newtap Finance

Newtap Finance
Newtap Finance, a tech-first NBFC, has been upgraded to a CRISIL A- rating for its borrowing programmes, including bank loans and non-convertible debentures (NCDs). The rating reflects the company's growing scale, disciplined underwriting, and strong portfolio performance, and strengthens its access to diversified, low-cost funding from banks and the capital markets.

The rating endorses Newtap's ability to build a scalable, high-quality lending ecosystem while maintaining a strong financial profile. It also reflects the company's strategy for scaling the business while sustainably improving profitability.

Since commencing operations in September 2022, Newtap has built a digitally native lending business focused on serving India's most creditworthy consumers. Newtap is a part of CRED’s lender  ecosystem with CRED holding a strategic 25.2% stake. Newtap operates as an independent, regulated NBFC combining technology-led lending with disciplined risk management.

The company has grown its managed loan portfolio to ₹4,582 crore with on-book AUM of Rs. 859 Cr as of March 31, 2026, while maintaining asset quality and collection efficiency. With a net worth of ₹225 crore and a capital adequacy ratio of 24.4%, Newtap is well-supported for its next phase of  growth.
