Jay Pawar, the younger son of late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has called for a comprehensive investigation into what he termed “serious possible lapses” behind the air crash that claimed his father’s life. He also asserted that an aircraft’s black box cannot be easily destroyed.
Ajit Pawar and four others were killed when a Learjet 45XR aircraft crashed near the Baramati airstrip in Pune district on January 28.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Jay Pawar said, “The black box cannot get destroyed easily. The people of Maharashtra have the right to know the complete and transparent truth about the crash.”

He further demanded action against VSR Ventures Private Limited, the aviation firm that operated the ill-fated aircraft, calling for a detailed and impartial inquiry into possible irregularities and operational lapses. He also sought a ban on the company.
His remarks came a day after Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which is leading the inquiry, has said it has sought specialised assistance to retrieve data from the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) of the crashed Learjet 45.

Senior NCP leader Praful Patel suggested that the aviation company appeared to bear primary responsibility for the crash and did not rule out possible pilot negligence, while stating that the investigation would reveal the facts.
Earlier, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar raised concerns about potential sabotage and called for a multi-agency probe. He also questioned the past record of the pilot, Capt Sumit Kapoor, citing a previous suspension over alcohol consumption.
