Meanwhile, Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, expressing shock over the incident, had sought an immediate report over the incident and had also ordered for a high-level inquiry into the incident.
It may be recalled in a powerful blast, caused by gelatin sticks stored in a truck that had reverberated the city and people had come out from their houses, fearing an earthquake.
The high-intensity blast took place near Hunasodu village located in the outskirts of the city, and the entire truck, which was carrying the blasting material tore to pieces.
This is Hunasondi village in Shivamogga where the blast occured last night. Lastest info suggests an explosives laden truck exploded near the quarry that may have caused a sonic boom which was heard & felt in a 30km radius. 5 confirmed dead. #ShivamoggaBlast pic.twitter.com/BpKaAXsOTU— Deepak Bopanna (@dpkBopanna) January 22, 2021
